Manurhin Revolvers
Everything you need to know about Manurhin revolvers
Its history
The French company Chapuis Armes has been manufacturing the legendary Manurhin revolvers since 1998 at its factory in Saint-Bonnet-le-Château.
From the very beginning of our Manurhin journey, Chapuis Armes has continuously invested in its production facilities, modernizing processes while maintaining the use of the highest quality steel.
Today, Chapuis Armes operates a state-of-the-art fleet of 5-axis CNC machines, used to machine the frames, cylinders, and barrels of each revolver.
These advanced machining methods, combined with three-dimensional metrological inspection, ensure a level of manufacturing quality raised to the highest standards of metallurgy.
Each MR73 and MR88 revolver is then assembled and hand-fitted in the purest tradition of high-end gunsmithing.
Today, thanks to ongoing improvements in its production capabilities and the exceptional quality of its revolvers, Chapuis Armes—facing ever-growing demand—continues to uphold, through its Manurhin revolvers, a legendary part of French gunsmithing heritage.
Technical characteristics
Trigger adjustment
The MR73 offers the ability to precisely adjust the double-action trigger pull weight to suit the shooter’s finger pressure.
It is also possible to finely adjust the single-action trigger pull weight, thanks to its leaf-type trigger return spring, pivoting on a pin within the grip, with tension adjustable by means of a screw.

Frames, cylinders and barrels
The use of high-grade, purpose-specific steels, combined with machining carried out on our 5-axis machines, enables us to achieve a level of manufacturing precision previously unmatched.
The frames are fully machined from forged steel blanks.
The rifling and finishing of our barrels are achieved through cold hammer forging, a process that compacts the metal’s structure while ensuring exceptional accuracy.
The cylinder chambers are finished by roller burnishing, increasing their hardness while producing a mirror-smooth surface within each chamber.
Finishing and fitting
All assembly, fitting and finishing operations are carried out by hand by our master gunsmiths. They meticulously assemble and fit the action, barrels, cylinder and cylinder lock, perform the manual Polyglass finishing of the entire firearm, as well as the specific MR73 bluing.
Thorough inspections are conducted at every stage of the process.
Testing and trials
All MR73 and MR88 revolvers undergo three successive tests:
• Overpressure test: our revolvers are proof-tested at the Saint-Étienne proof house using ammunition generating pressures 30% higher than standard levels (CIP standards).
• Function test: the trigger pull weight, its adjustment range, cylinder lock-up and the overall operation of the firearm in single and double action are meticulously checked by our master gunsmiths.
• Accuracy test: all our revolvers undergo this final accuracy test. MATCH models are delivered with a test target, where a 6-shot group at 25 meters must be under 20 mm.
On average, 24 rounds are fired from each revolver before it is released for sale.
